Purpose: Jane agreed to volunteer as a test subject for a graduate student in training for an achievement assessment. Background Information Jane Porter is a 21-year-old white female who lives with her father, Archimedes Quincy Porter, a scientist in England. According to her father, she was born healthy with no medical problems or difficulties and met developmental milestones within average/expected limits. Jane is in good health and reports that she has never had any serious medical problems nor any surgeries or medical procedures. Jane’s father reports that she has always been a hard working individual excelled in school. Jane is a primatologist and enjoys conducting research and spending time with her jungle friends. Rapport was easily established and Jane seemed at ease throughout. Jane displayed appropriate affect and did not display frustration when items became more difficult, but rather persisted until she arrived at an answer. Overall, s he seemed to complete most tasks quite quickly, and in very few instances did she need to be prompted to answer. The testing environment was inspected prior to beginning the assessment to ensure it allowed for comfortable testing conditions. There were no distractions or interruptions throughout the test. The room was well lit and set at a comfortable temperature. All materials were presented at appropriate distances to ensure that the individual could see and reach them. Based on the observations and due to no visible difficulties, the following scores can be stated as valid representations of their respective abilities at this point in time.
